From how I have understood it they are selling old stock, no new models have been released in quite a while.

That's what it looked like to me. I wonder what the prices are like - I seem to remember a UK retailer discounting those models quite heavily about 7-8 years ago. Nothing I could see on their website.

As I understand it, the UG brand was purchased by a Chinese business mogul for pennies in the late-90's / early-2000's as a "gift" to his son. The brand has become a literal shell in the years since, and though multiple parties have purportedly approached the owner about selling, he is completely unwilling to entertain any offers. A shame for all involved, especially as I would not be opposed to it being purchased by a parent company with deep pockets who could re-introduce it in a similar way to Tudor's re-entrance.

Agreed but remember that unlike UG, Tudor had the big advantage of never being out of business. They continued to actively create and sell plenty of new product but just not in the USA. It’s the watch community especially in the US who didn’t pay much attention until the Black Bay launch for all the obvious reasons ;)

Based on their new releases from the first page, I'm not sure I want any of their "interpretations."

Unless Bulova goes out of business or anyone in the holding company gets ahold of some inspiration and budget, I don’t think UG is coming back in a real way anytime soon.

I was poking through U.S. trademark filings recently and did notice that they filed U.S. trademarks for both the UG name and logo in November of 2018. It's a couple hundred bucks to submit a TM application so not a huge investment from the aforementioned chinese co. that bought the brand name for pennies on the dollar, but still interesting and perhaps foreshadowing.

They can't even get their own name right on the website and you expect them to come out with a faithful execution of their timepieces of yesteryear?

At least all the pics are so soft it spares some of the pain of seeing the ugliness of the limited edition series Microtor :(

I'm kind of surprised that they used Lemania movements – aren't they not available for purchase outside of Swatch anymore?
