I like to wear mine from time to time but it mainly depends on where I'm going. If I'm going to a wedding or special event, I'll wear the discontinued models that's protected by my coat. Generally everyday wear, I put on my beater, which is basically a watch I bought new. The one I have trouble wearing is the BLNR and those darn polished centerlinks! I have like 3 micro swirls and I'm already irritated but will still wear the watch. It's everyday wear and not "beat up". If I know I'm going to be in a sketch situation out comes the Victorinox. Even then I'm not very wreckless, I just don't mind putting my wrist down.
I tend to always wear what I buy (then again, I can't really afford amazing pieces) but depending on the occasion I might wear an old beater like a vintage Tissot that's definitely seen some hardcore life. I'm not sure I'd be in for buying something I can't (or would be afraid of) wear(ing) just for the pleasure of having it in my safe.
