Collectability of Genève watches

I don't think anyone's really taken offence. But there is no such thing as a safe investment with vintage watches or indeed any collectable as they are subject to the whims of public taste which aren't ruled by good sense. IMO the only people who've ever made money from any collectables are those who knew their subject intimately, had a very good eye for quality and bought what they liked in the best condition.
Agreed. There’s no such thing as any safe investment, and any investor-collector should only buy items they like, otherwise they are dealers, which I certainly am not and am already probably too old to develop sufficient expertise to become. I’m more of a buy something of quality, enjoy it, and then in future, if I’ve bought well, maybe it’ll pay for a day or two in a nursing home. The point of my question here was whether Genèves can ever be of sufficient quality, and I think I have my answer so thanks to everyone.
