Coating of Apollo-soyuz Speedyorite case back drop off

Yesterday I surprisely found the coating of my Speedyorite case back drop off, though this watch as released at 2010, it was sold at 2017 so should be pretty new.

Not sure if anyone else has ever met similar issue, but apparently the paint like coating is not solid enough to survive long service time. I'll call omega to see anything they can help though I don't expect positive feedback.

I inquired about one from a seller (whom I recently purchased something else), apparently he had the same problem. I also noticed this of one from another seller (as below), that most part of it has peeled off.

Oh shit! Admittedly though, I think it looks better with the paint off lol.

Peeled off coating made the background color of space be bright::facepalm1::
yes, the original was closer to the physical world: the darkness of space vs the contrasting lightness of earth, star and spacecraft.

I was going to buy one of these but it was withdrawn from sale as the guy had sent it back to omega for the same issue (in the last three years). I was told they replaced the back free of charge / it should not happen. I read about a few of these after that. It did put me off but I assume they have fixed it with the warranty replacement... it if was a car situation they would issue a recall...…..

I assume replace case back for free is because it's still under warranty. If not Omega will still charge.

I assume that replacement of the case back is not just simple, since it contains the serial number of the watch

Ah that’s a shame. Just checked mine and all ok thankfully. Please let us know how you get on when you contact Omega.

Ooph... looks like the enamel isn't sticking to the metal correctly.

Hopefully Omega will replace this gratis...

I’ve never heard of this happening until now and I can’t see any with the issue on Chrono24. How many have you seen with this issue?

I called the official Omega Service, I was told I have to take the watch to service center for triage. The open time of service center is only working days::facepalm1::. I have to see when I can take some time from work for this stuff...

More than 15 over the years.... at some point there was more than 10 listed on Chrono24, and 5 were with this same problem...

Thanks for the info. Not an uncommon problem then. Cheers.

I know its personal taste, but I really like it like that without the coating.

Today I went to SWATCH Service Center, and was told it could be replaced w/ a service case back w/o the limit serial number. And per Omega, the old case back will not be returned. So I took my watch back and left.
