Hello. I have a Seamaster Professional Chronometer 300m/1000ft.

I bought it 2nd hand because I liked the way it looked and it felt like quality although it's seen some wear to it . I know nothing about watches... I randomly googled it the other day and found it may be an expensiveish watch... if it’s real!
Am I ok to post pictures for advice here or should I take it somewhere to get it looked at? I’ve done lot a of research online about it now and I’m getting more convinced it may be real... but it may also be wishful thinking of course!
Anyway.. I’ll add the pictures and if I’ve done something wrong I’m sure someone will tell me...nicely I hope!

Thanks loads in advance.

The hands don't look right to me, but purely for educational purposes, can anyone briefly identify what the obvious glaring issues are?

To name just a few:
-dots on bezel “touching” the 50
-Layout of the dial completely off (i.a. arrangement of totalizers)
-general quality of the text, markers etc.

Just compare it to following picture:

Damn sorry to see that man. Way too many people passing off fakes as real taking advantage of others. I hope they didn’t whack you for a lot of cash. I’m far from very knowledgeable but it gets easy to pick out fakes like that if you hang around here for a while. I’ve paid some noob taxes but they were more do to people misrepresenting condition and me missing it. Haven’t got hit with a fake but I’m not above it. Like I said hope you didn’t pay much and at least you will learn for the future.

I suspect the OP paid very little for it, and only became curious when he learned Seamasters (real ones) are relatively expensive.

Hope so

Thanks everyone for looking!

And luckily I only paid £1.99 in a charity store for it (so how nuts would that have been if it was genuine!!!). I thought my partner might like it.
After finding out a new battery would be a ridiculous amount, I googled to see if I could do it myself and saw how much some of them are worth.
I got excited and hoped it might help toward our next IVF round!

Never mind...a girls gotta try! Nothing ventured nothing gained!

Thanks again and all the best.

If if was real it wouldn’t need a battery as it should be an automatic.

Damn...looks like a pretty good fake. Makes me now wonder if my recent purchase is genuine. I've had z quartz model before, and this "new" one feels/looks genuine to me, but now I'm wondering...?

A pretty poor fake actually . Many areas don't line-up properly.

Glad to hear you didn’t spend a lot. Good luck with the IVF I know it’s very expensive and stressful I hope it works out well for both of you

It is a pretty bad fake. Take a couple minutes to look at the real one the gentleman put up and it really shouldn’t take you long to pick out a number of things quickly. I am not speaking high and mighty on my horse I’m at a very basic level of knowledge but it’s good to be able to pick these up. You should put up a picture of your watch if your concerned the guys here can give you an honest assessment.

Frankly @Fox220 you came out pretty unscathed and the fact that you bought this as a gift for someone gets you full brownie points here and a pass on the newbie shaming- your heart was in the right place.
This is a fun place to hang out and learn and you may end up finding a special gift in the classified’s here or even something for yourself.
If you do get the bug to hunt for watches, we always enjoy spending other people’s money. And we love all watches, not just Omega’s so let us know if you find something else that catches your eye.

Here are some pics I took: fake, or genuine?
