The build up of dust, marks and i suppose dirt between the lugs on my leather strap speedmasters bother me.

Any tips on cleaning between the lugs in the small gap between the strap and case?

I don't really want to resort to removing the pins as i inevitably scratch the back of the case. Any household items or techniques anyone has for this?

Just run some string or dental floss through the gap.

I use the brush from wristclean. It’s really thin and gets into those tight spots

I use a small brush or sometimes a thin cotton bud.

I use these for many watch cleaning tasks. Cleaning out springbar holes, pusher and stem tubes, movement parts.

I just remove the strap and use a child's toothbrush (super soft).

Practice removing straps and bracelets. Grab a cheap watch and set to - remove, replace, swap for a bracelet. Once you've mastered that little skill, you can take off a strap; clean the case with isopropyl and a cotton bud and you're a happy little bunny. You'll find that many bracelets can be refitted with your thumb nail and no risk of scratching anything.

To the original post....if you are cautious about removing spring bars due to potential lug damage, you may also want to consider purchasing a handy bracelet/strap removal tool.

Here’s a thread that may be of interest. There are my others you can find on the topic using the search feature.
