So whilst retrieving my GSOT from the boutique after having it checked out post crown shattering incident I noticed that they had a lovely CK2998 for display. I had a closer look and really liked everything about it. Color scheme, size just the lollipop seconds hand bugs me. The boutique offered it to me at a cool $5100 (which from what I can tell is a great deal) and I countered with $5000 which they will get back to me on in two days. I really like the look for the watch and it seems to be a fantastic price? But I'm hesitant after dropping some $ purchasing the GSOTM. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
This is one of my favorite watches. The color is outstanding. It is the only new watch I have ever purchased. And at that price point, wow. I also think that it would compliment the gray side quite nicely.
If you like it buy it. If you are having doubts then don't. There might be something that pops up at Basel world that you like more. I doubt it will be gone in the next couple of weeks so why not wait? If you love it then as soon as you have paid for it, you won't worry about the money.
I agree. Somewhat regretted purchasing the GSOTM after seeing that one :x You're right they'd look great together and also complimented my my Michael Schumacher legend speediest with the carbon fiber black dial.
I've been looking around myself for a CK and 5,000 seems like a great deal, I don't know that I've seen one close to that yet.
I had no idea the Omega boutiques ever offered anything for under list price; AD's I understood are a different story... I guess that tells you how often I go in... At $5k I don't think you can really go wrong. You could always sell it here if you find the love is lost after the honeymoon phase! (wish it had been that easy when I was married )
Wonder how easy that would be given I'm based in Dubai (I have found general reluctance for people to buy from me once I left the US) Moreover, wonder how much I'd lose if I decided to sell :S
If you live in Dubai, and you can afford two "special" speedies in that short a period, I think you shouldn't be asking yourself such petty questions
You are much more likely to find a buyer that doesn't care so much about your location if they already 'know' you here on OF... and they fall in love with your watch!
Well let's just say that I was able to afford tying up the cash in the GSOTM. It was mint (before I broke the crown) and well under market value. So I figured I could always liquidate at no loss if need be
You'd think so. But I have a good track record of buying and selling on WUS where I do most my transacting. I find the main issue to be cost of shipping with insurance and hesitance surrounding customs.
$5 is a great price. I've seen a few BNIB ones for $5400 and $5100. Lollipop is one of the coolest features. Do it, and try not to drop this one
