Not so common apparently. Any thoughts why the ck2998 FOIS sedna is not so popular?

It's not that expensive, you can buy one for about $7,500-$8000 usd. The ck2998s are too thick, it bothers me less on the gold version. My fiancé loves it, she wears it on a bright orange Jean Rousseau strap. The miniature applied metal logo bothers me a little. The lack of concentric circles on the subdials bothers me a LOT

So twice (or more than) what a steel one goes for... expensive.

I really like these! Although, now that you mention it, the lack of concentric circles might bug me as well

I agree, they could have added some concentric circles on the subdials. With regards to the price, I don't think you can get one for 7,500-8,000 USD. The cheapest I have seen is 10,5K EUR, which is about 12,0K USD and the guarantee is not stamped/signed by a retailer. But if you have any link to offers at that price, I would be highly interested !

The steel (311.32.40.30.01.001) is £3520 list price.

The Sedna Gold (311.63.40.30.02.001) is £12000 list price.

At over 3 times the cost of the steel, it's not really a huge surprise that they don't sell more gold versions of the FOIS.

You perfectly right my friend. I was just surprised by the total absence of the FOIS sedna in the forums. The steel version has nothing in common with the sedna version, cosmetically speaking.

I see the price of the steel ck2998 around 4.5-5k usd. I got the gold for 7.5k usd, I know they are listed for 9.5 or 10, but if you reach out to the sellers and have a little patience I bet you can find one for 7.5-8 like I did. I think a 50% premium to the steel version is not a big markup at all, and would not qualify it as expensive. Also the highest number I've seen on one of these is around 500, so as far as I know it's on the lower side of production for a Speedmaster

This looks like a job for....

But please never call it the ck2998 FOIS sedna again...

This is the FOIS Sedna... and had Snoopy not have done what it did, the CK2998 would be the FOIS steel Panda Numbered edition... but then Snoopy "went viral" and branding the CK2998 with a perfunctory name and making it "limited" not "numbered" in the minds of the PTB that it would make it a sales blockbuster

I seriously considered pulling the trigger on one but after seeing it at the OB, I had to pass. Turns out I prefer YG over Sedna/RG. Also, a lollipop chronograph seconds hand like the CK2998 LE would be nice.

Awesome pics Superdoc, but am I right in understanding that CK2998 was originally going to be a NE instead of a LE? Wow, what a missed opportunity for Omega. I'm asked about my watch probably three or four times a week... [emoji15]

That is just my personal opinion - not based on any true "insider" information...
But When you look at it... there was really no reason for this to be anything other than a continuation in the FOIS line...

If you think that they would have sold many many more than 2998, you're probaby right - but only in as much as more points of sale would have purchased the watch only to flip to the grey market ... There are plenty of Ck2998 on grey dealer sites for less than MSRP...

The strategy was going to be that the CK2998 would be a Carrot to dangle in front of prospective clients to motivate them to buy from boutiques (hence the "profiling") - it would have worked brilliantly if limited to 1500ish... but at 2998 it was a backfire -

Apply for the opportunity to pay full MSRP and we'll let you know if you rate... (or buy it from grey dealer of your choice at a discount) ..

things like the snoopy and the speedytuesday happen organically, they cannot be artificially recreated...when you try too hard to re-create something that had intangible chemistry... you end up with "godfatther III"
    (or Rocky V... )

it would not be my first choice, but this FOIS variant is a much nicer option than the ST edition....IMO

I've always liked the Sedna FOIS both in pics and in person. Tried it on several times and always enjoyed the aesthetics. My only reason for not pulling the trigger is that I worry I will not be able to relax while wearing it and instead will fret about marking it up. Maybe one day when I'm feeling more fancy and refined than my current neanderthal self...

I tried both and came to the same conclusion. Besides, one feature makes it even more appealing: if I am correct, it is the only speedmaster with straight lugs manufactured in gold, ever.
