Hooray! 40mm of chunky goodness from 1968 with the original bracelet. And the alarm still rings loudly
My second Citizen watch, Promaster Hyper Aqualand, i think is the full name. I bought it from an old frogman who got tired of complaints from other divers that the rapid acent alarm attracted sharks when he dived in tropical waters. I used it as a diver and desk diver for many years, until my first battery change, then it started to eat batteries and it often needed a little bump to get the display working. After buying my 2254, I changed battery my self and placed the battery clamp (spider?) the right way, and has since worked flawlessly. My first Citizen watch was a late 70´s four button digital, it got stolen in a late night scuffle in Venezuela in 1992. Anyone got pictures of such a watch?
I think maybe i found a picture of my first Citizen watch. I don`t remember the seven part, actually the things I remember was the four buttons, the pointer date and a vague idea of how it looked. It served me well from late 70`s / early 80`s, in rough use as a teenager until I lost it in 92. I even crossed the Atlantic on a sailing ship with it, where other had problems with their watches and cameras fogging up. It cemented my belief in Citizen quality to this day.
I can’t express how much I love Citizen. They are my most frequently worn watches in my collection. Anyone else rocking their Citizen(s) the most?
I just saw these new 37mm Promaster Divers from Citizen yesterday and really like the blue and black. Looks like a great everyday tool watch and very tempting at the price point. Blue watch with the black strap would be perfect. Image courtesy of The Dink. https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/new-citizen-37mm-promaster-diver-collection
I actually don't own any Citizen watches. But I just bought an Omega diver that will be hard to compete with.
