I picked up a Speedmaster Pro (145 022 69 ST) from a local dealer in December. It has the post-moon 1st generation case back and I haven't found much info about it. I'm curious if others have Speedys like it. The case back says "Flight-Qualified By NASA For All Manned Space Missions - The First Watch Worn On The Moon"
I have similar one. This case back only produced for short period time: July 1969 to mid 1971, before replaced to circular text around hippocampus logo which stays until now. The other nice detail is its pie pan dial.
An under-appreciated reference that so far hasn't received special attention in the market. Here's mine. With a 32.2M serial, it must be one of the last produced in this case later in 1971:
Hi I also have this model....I notice the second and minute hand lume is black which is different from current model...other posts also seems to share mine as well. Is this correct for 142.022 model?
Actually yours is a very dark brown with a few gaps where the lume has deteriorated completely and crumbled away and you can see through to the dial. On most of the watches in this thread, the lume in the hands appears to have aged far more dramatically than the dial plots.
If you have serviced it recently and water proof testing it, then certainly it could be a reliable daily wearer. I only wear it occasionally, would love to wear it more often.
Actually there are a few on here but sometimes I think Privateday7 is the only one who appreciates them ;-) Here's a wrist shot from this morning:
