    Hi,
My grandfather was in the RAF during the second world war and his son (my father) was born on the night of the Dambuster's raid. I have a copy of a War Office telegram to that effect somewhere, which is a nice document to have. I'm very much interested in finding a RAF issue Omega watch from that vintage, which would go into a collection that I'm looking to build based around 'father and son', that I plan to pass on to my son. I currently own a Speedmaster and I was born in 1969 - the year of the moon landings - and would look to include a Speedmaster from that year, as well as one from my son's both year, 2001. I would be grateful for any thoughts and advice, particularly on the 1943 vintage RAF watch.
    Thanks!

I have a re-cased 6B159, but I do prefer the original military alloy case. The value of these has gone up in the past few years.

    Dear Achim,
mine is stainless steel but not recased (I suppose you're talking about the 1956 MOD program to recase the movements in larger stainless steel cases?).
My case is one of the rare stainless steel examples of the original 32mm type (with case serials inside consistent with movement serial and case back markings AM 6B/ 159 xxxx /42).
    Best regards,
    S

Thanks much, yes, one exactly like this would be hard to find -- but wasn't @Vitezi's point was more to give the OP a general direction and flavor?

It hasn't occurred to me to pay for a certificate for mine actually, as I had no reason to doubt its overall assessment by very focused collectors on MWR when I found it. I was quite green and didn't exactly know despite searching for months what the unusual "staybrite" marking meant.
Could be an idea at some point though.

Silly question perhaps, how could a 6B/ 159 have been delivered outside of the UK?

PS - thanks @Vitezi for the kind words, by the way.

Sure, although my photobucket account is a mess, and my only picture of the inside case back is the initial one from the seller.
Note the incorrect crown which was on the watch at the time of purchase was since replaced with a period crown.
See additional pics below. (I'll see if I can get it opened at some point to take newer pics.
I'm certainly not about to touch it myself).

    ****UPDATE/ PHOTOS EDITED OUT***

This is the initial MWR thread with Isologue's observations on the serial numbers.

This is beautiful, but a re-cased example. Love the patina. The amplitude on this sucks as you can see and the regulator is retarded as much as possible, so it needs some work.

The watch is in a Dennison case not the 2292 issued by the MoS.
I have two 2292 mk7A and would consider letting one go
