Hi, folks. I bought my first Omega - a SMP Diver 300M (212.30.41.20.03.001) - from the Omega Boutique in Melbourne while on vacation last week. I'm loving it (and loving the money I saved by paying Aussie bucks and getting the tax back when I took it out of the country), but after reading a few threads here, I see that some SMP owners received a Chronometer Certificate card with their watch as well as the International Warranty and Histogram cards. I did not receive that third card, even though the watch is COSC certified. So my question is, should I have received a Chronometer Certificate card with my watch, or has Omega stopped issuing them with the "base model" SMP these days? I have emailed the store, but haven't received a response yet.
Omega stopped issuing Chronometer cards sometime around 2013 I believe. They're going for a new type of certification, METAS, which can be seen here: http://www.ablogtowatch.com/omega-metas-swiss-metrology-institute-certification/
I bought the same model in 2014 and it didn't have the card, however if you look at you pictograms card it will have the COSC logo on it.
Thanks all. The store replied this evening, confirming that they no longer issue separate Chronometer cards. However, Omega will provide the watch's original COSC certificate for a $110 charge (in the US, at least). Could be neat to have.
