My next watch is going to be a non-diver. I have PO Ti, SMP 300, Rolex Explorer, Concorde (w/ El Primero). I've been thinking about a Speedmaster racing or FOIS because I like the smaller size of ~40mm. But, recently the A384 Revival caught my eye and man it's beautiful. Curious of everyone's opinions on these two watches and which one would you pick!

So I have to look up what a 384 is.....

    I vote Speedmaster because I didn’t look up what a 384 was.

    Edit: looked it up

    Go the 384 ;)

A384 with the ladder bracelet is a killer combo. It is the nicest of the current Zenith product line IMO, so I would go with that all the way.

The 384 is great but at nearly $9k it's a bit too much IMO. They can be had for less on the secondary though for about the same price as a Speedmaster Racing so if you're not tied to new, could be worth looking at. And if you prefer a smaller size the 384 fits that bill, but you should try on the Speedmaster before deciding as it wears smaller than its on-paper dimensions suggest

I had a chance to try on the A384 at my AD. I think it is a really cool watch and Zenith nailed this one. The price is a bit steep though.
However it is surely not as versatile as the Speedmaster (FOIS). I ended up buying the FOIS.

To answer your question.. I guess it depends what you are looking for. In my opinion the 384 is surely a nice piece to add some diversity to a collection, but the Speedy could do just fine on its own :)

The Zenith is a very nice timepiece with an excellent movement, but, although I don't like the fact that the sub-dial hands are not all matching on the FOIS ( I understand some members have had an independent watchmaker change one sub-dial hand to make all the same), I don't care for a chronograph with a date window...just doesn't look right. I believe for the price, the FOIS is the choice in my opinion.

There was an intent behind that. The time hands all match, and the chronograph hands all match.

Do you mean, between an A384 and an Ed White?

Yes, the Zenith Revival Shadow is the watch of interest.

There was a steel fight scheduled, and you showed up with microblasted titanium... unsportsmanlike
