Chrono24 buying issue..

Hello, I have been trying to buy a watch on Chrono24. However, my transactions kept on getting canceled... The first time I assume that it's because a large sum has been leaving my bank account so my bank stopped it. However, the second time my bank didn't stop it and it still got canceled..

About an hour ago, the same seller contacted me saying he got an email saying, "Chrono transaction canceled because the buyer has suspicious activities"

Would anyone like to enlighten me on why Chrono24 flagged me as a suspicious buyer?

My theories are
- I didn't ask for additional photos since the ad had tons.

Thanks!

You can ask the seller to reserve it for you and then call Chrono24 when they're open to try and see what happened.

You should be able to clear this up with them over the phone/email. Stuff like this happens sometimes. Mistaken identify.

I only used them once so far, and we had an issue not caused by them. My purchase was delivered, to the wrong address a postal service. The address on the shipping paperwork (chrono) was correct. Everyone involved was called, the business (no real help), the USPS by the seller and chrono. My money was on an escrow account, after the seller got done with USPS. I was refunded my money, the item was insured. The do keep in the loop, with messages and emails. Both parties have to agree, to whatever is going on. Oh yes when I did my transaction one card was denied, the other card worked fine.

Try a different card. It might be a 3D secure issue.
Obviously, you'll get your answer when you call.
I had a buyer try three different cards only to have the issue fixed by calling Chrono.

UPDATE: I have contacted Chrono24 USA, and they are too confused.. They don't know why my account got flagged for 'suspicious activity'. They can also see that my payment went through. But somehow Chrono24 just sent it back immediately. They have notified their Fraud team to have clear my name but they're based in Germany so I would have to wait until tomorrow to get a feedback.

UPDATE: I got an email saying during '..in view of our verification process, your account will remain restricted for security reasons'

Uhhhh how do I appeal this? I'm just trying to buy a watch...

Honestly, I have no clue. I don't even use Chrono24 that much, it just so happened that I had a similar issue once.

What you are saying is strange. Them not quoting a reason for this "restriction" is simply stupid, to me.

Maybe call your bank? Or just call the Germany center, that's where I called.

Sometimes someone's name is exactly the same as a known fraud entity. Happened with no-fly lists, too.

I read a few months ago that a relatively large percentage of online orders are falsely denied because of the algorithms used, something like 20%. They should have been approved but for various reasons they are flagged and rejected. Obviously industries have sprung up to better manage these false rejections because that is lost revenue to the seller, and of course an unhappy buyer results. You'll probably never know what the reason was, there probably wasn't a good reason, you were a victim of an imperfect online approval process. It doesn't sound like Chrono24 is too anxious to find out and fix the problem.

Sounds about right. I still believe it had to do with the questions I did not ask the seller IE "Why are you selling this watch, additional photos, etc" along with my account being less than a week old..

PS, i could probably program a better algo. haha just kidding. But if anyone here is looking for a Software Engineering Intern in Silicon Valley let me know!! I will send my credentials 😀

well, if the Seller is not the problem, if your bank is not the problem, then a good assumption would be that C24 is the problem. If you are not getting a solution from C24, what prevents you from buying directly from the Seller?

We are working that out as we speak. He mentioned that he is a busy person so I'm okay with waiting. I assume because of holidays are coming up he has occupied with that. 😀
