i was just playing with my new watch and I noticed that on the odd occasion the Chrono would stutter in the first few seconds. I would reset it and try again and it’s fine. I could only replicate it once more otherwise all functions ok. The watch was only wound very little. Any thoughts?

Maybe wind it more than “very little”. It takes more torque to get the chrono running

How drastic is the stutter? One of my Speedys did this for years with no other detectable problems. I had it serviced and it still does it, but not as extreme.

For the first few seconds. Can’t replicate it now. Odd. It was like a hesitation more than stutter.

Does it happen when the watch is fully wound?

I’ll try it again when wound in next few days. I was kinda stopping and starting and resetting in quick succession. Maybe some slippage?

Why don't you fully wind it now and just check it out!

As @Archer says, if the watch is not fully wound then the chrono might not work properly!

Maybe when you wake up you will realise that starting threads like this, just for the sake of building your post count up, is starting to piss me and many other members off.

It was a genuine question. I started the post at 10.30 uk time and was in bed at 11pm. Reasonable I think. Isn’t a forum for genuine concerns so more experienced people can help?

Too asleep to wind your watch but not too asleep to write five posts?

Simple.. low winding state means low torque from the mainspring. Chrono function requires more torque to run correctly then just watch function.

It’s due to low winding state.

Just checked watch. It ran for another 9 hours without Chrono on so that was pretty low power reserve. I will wind watch later today and re check.

Almost fully wound I could not replicate the hesitation in the first few seconds. Also times it for 3 hours and seems pretty accurate.must have been due to power level.
