Get the fuck out!!! Well no shit that everyone tells you that you should get an AP instead...would you [want to] fly that contraption pictured and described below??? I didn’t think so.
Sooooooo, my plan would be to sell 3 or 4 decent watches which never seem to go up or down in value. I'll chose watches that I never wear. Maybe someone else can enjoy them?? Hopefully! I'd love to sell another few watches and buy a BMW e46 m3. All of my friends who know about this crap claim that the e46 will double or triple in value over the next 7 to 10 years....
Make sure you get one that's had the rear subframe looked at. Lots to go wrong on an E46 M3 and that's just the start.
Owned a 15400 OR but it sits big on the wrist so px'd it for the 15202. If you're going to go with precious metal and your budget can stand it you need to get it on a bracelet as it is a thing of beauty.
Wouldn’t even be a close call for me - of those two manufactures - AP every time. The 15202 in rose gold (or any metal) is gorgeous. As for the e46, mot exactly a rare car, unless perhaps you’re talking CSL. I think tripling in the short term is unlikely, but who knows. How many examples of the E46 M3 were produced? BL91 (ECE-sepc coupe, LHD): 16,038 examples produced from 09/2000 through 05/2006 BL92 (ECE-spec coupe, RHD): 12,510 examples produced from 02/2001 through 05/2006 BL93 (NA-spec coupe, LHD): 26,202 examples produced from 02/2001 through 05/2006 BL95 (ECE-spec CSL coupe, LHD): 841 examples produced from 05/2003 through 12/2003 (includes 19 pre-production examples) BL96 (ECE-spec CSL coupe, RHD): 542 examples produced from 06/2003 through 12/2003 (includes 10 pre-production examples) BR91 (ECE-spec convertible, LHD): 4,822 examples produced from 02/2001 through 08/2006 BR92 (ECE-spec convertible, RHD): 7,234 examples produced from 04/2001 through 08/2006 BR93 (NA-spec convertible, LHD): 17,577 examples produced from 03/2001 through 08/2006
If you need the interwebs to tell you how to spend your money then you should hold off until you find something you really want.
I had been intending to get a 15202 but as I was momentarily distracted the price shot up US$10K. I was always of the opinion that Gold watches were for old men. Until I bought a Gold Speedmaster. As @Darlinboy says the 15202 in Rose Gold is a thing of beauty. Or I might just be turning in to an old man?
The 15202 St St Blue dial went up in price by circa 12% in the summer and then a further 5% yesterday in the UK. All other models received the 5% increase yesterday. I was of the same opinion and still am for yellow gold but rose gold is a different ball game or is 42 now considered old?
I know you're a guy who likes originality and "the real thing" Rich. So, as much as I like (and drool over) modern Breguets, you need to go with the watch made by the company with an unbroken lineage since it was created in 1875. Ergo: AP.
I like the Brequet quite a bit and given nothing else to spend the cash on I would consider one. I too would buy the AP. have fun kfw
