Dear experts, here comes my special chocolate "sparkle" Seamaster in Ranchero case... It came with a totally wrong white second hand which I had to remove as it was so ugly. I am unsure which correct second hand should be on this watch - I could not find any pics of Rancheros with center second hands... Maybe should it look like the Railmaster´s second hand? For the Railmaster I found the plain second hand and one with the "drop tail" in silver and white. pics borrowed from the www Which one would be correct for my SM Ranchero - any thoughts? Number 1, 2 or 3 ? I would appreciate the advice of the experts here. Thank you in advance Erich
Well I´m no expert but would definitely go for the needle hand No.1. If I compare to 2913´s and 4´s from this period then that seconds hand would certainly match the best. No.2 looks fake and No.3 too late.
..I'm waiting for www.SeamasterRanchero101.com to go live... In the meantime, that's a nice Ranchero you got there!
My semi-educated guess is that it would be a similar style to the Railmaster, as the other hands match: There is a listing for Ref 2996 in the Omega database that could help: http://www.omegawatches.com/planet-omega/heritage/vintage-watches-database?ref=14440 Hope this helps, gatorcpa
Thanks a lot - you confirmed what I had as a gut feeling - the needle style best matches the proportions... another spear tip on the second hand would be too much IMO
Does anybody have a source where to buy such a silver colored second hand? Al, do you happen to have a parts number available?
Cousinsuk.com Used this one for my transformed Ranchero 2996 (Swedish sold with a Seamaster service dial), until i find a nice all original Ranchero.
Very nice Seamaster Erich! It kind of looks cool without the seconds hand too...it gives it a very clean look.
