Over-polished case and case-back, mediocre bezel, and a massive scar on the dial. I could mention that the pushers and crown are service parts, but that seems like a quibble compared to the rest. I do like the color of the lume.

That re-lume certainly took its toll on the dial, and I agree with Dan's assessment, that poor caseback just got punished by a polishing wheel. I usually pass on overly polished watches, you just can't get the metal back. The farther away you are from this watch, with the naked eye, the more attractive it is. I'd keep looking for something less manipulated.

This photo shows the damage to the dial:

Here is the case-back, or what's left of it:

I must have missed some of those on the photo link as I scrolled through on my phone. Great catch though, the case back has pretty much nothing left.

Being new here, I am curious how you can determine that the pushers and crown are service parts so easily? I am learning quick, but have a lot to go.

Fairly funny how the Reddit boards swooned over this. This is why I love this forum.

You need to look carefully at all the photos. Someone on Reddit made a comment about the damage to the dial, mocking the seller for calling it a "freckle".

Just keep studying photos and reading threads and you will get familiar with the most obvious service parts. Some are harder than others, but 105.012 pushers and flatfoot crowns are easy. You can start here: https://speedmaster101.com

The flaws were called out by other members already and are quite obvious. At the end of the day it’s really a matter of what type of watch you are looking for and how much you are willing to pay for it. At 9.5k€, that watch is about 30% overpriced, imho. At 6k€ It would look a lot more attractive and make a cool daily wearer.

I would not really consider the watch as the seller is not really into full disclosure.

1. Understating the damage on the dial.
2. Not disclosing the dial and hands being relumed. Happy to corrected here.

The aged radium-colored lume on a tritium-marked dial is definitely a nice touch.

Have you made purchases on Reddit? A couple years back I got a dynamic but I’ve been talking to a few of the more high number transaction sellers as I’m planning on picking a a modestly modern seamaster and one consideration is Reddit. I notice a lot of the transactions are wire though that really puts the buyer on front street

I believe Reddit WatchExchange has a big mob issue, I don't believe the transactions are real, I also don't believe they are all there to scam Redditors, I believe they might actually be scamming real life people by referencing Reddit sales

I once tracked a watch that sold in Japan for ~$800 or something, a good find to be honest, I passed and bought another watch, then it appeared on Reddit for $2000+ | I mean it's a beautiful watch, but come on $2000 is way above market value - boom, it sells instantly, I question life

Then it re-appears from the buyer, $1700-ish this time, I talked a bit with the second seller, even compared the handwritings of both sellers out of paranoia, nothing conclusive, but it sells again very fast for $1700 too

TL;DR: I didn't spend like too much time on it, however, in my opinion, 100% avoid Reddit sellers, I'm not saying Redditors, people who actually use Reddit and are passionate about it, but the Reddit sellers, who just market watches

I made once, with a nice Canadian guy. We quickly jumped to WhatsApp, and made the transaction, by bank wire.
Maybe I took that time a big risk... But it was a feeling story... It ended well finally....
But not sure to do it again....

I agree with you, but as with any online market, caveat emptor is the name of the game. I have opened a thread here about a watch that I thought to have issues a while back. It was sold on Reddit. You'd be surprised by how the r/watchexchange mods handled the situation. There are some genuinely nice people there.
I'm assuming this sour taste you have is because of the many watch dealers/pseudodealers/flippers on there, and I agree.
P.S The watch was fine, the only thing wrong with it was the price

I've sold a couple of low value items on Reddit and it's been fine. I don't really see it any differently than any other sales forum, though the feedback mechanism isn't as robust as it probably should be. The only other real difference is that the flippers/psuedodealers/etc aren't differentiated from the hobby sellers.

Honestly, the dial thingy is something I noticed when I took the movement out of the case, did not see it when worn! About the lume, the matching is scary, but as I stated before, it is a consignment for a friend so I am getting back to him with the info!

Hey interesting points. But how do you distinguish the two? Post history? I use Reddit for politics, boxing, finance etc but I’m not much more involved than just having a few decent discussions with people I really don’t know the nuances

Guys, quick question on the side, neglect me being a seller but look at me as ' a student' now. Would you like two give me your opinions on the lume under UV light tomorrow?
