Speaking of difficult to find, how hard is it to find a decent Centenary?
Seems like most collectors here have one and they sure don't come up in the good ole' FS section ::popcorn:: ::beer::

They come up from time to time on eBay. Usually one about every 3-6 months, sometimes less, sometimes more, you have to keep a sharp eye out. Also beware of refinished dials.
Watch for one in decent condition for about $2300. to 2600. Beyond that it is up to you what you want to spend

Oh nice, look at the engraving on the back though, don't see too many with that especially in RG.

Very nice more uncommon rose gold. But with 3375 euro and 4 days left it will not go cheap ;)

Sorry for jumping between 2 separate topics here. Should have begun a new thread for the centenary.

The condition doesn't look that good to me.
Also this watch was previously available with a very high BIN. 6k euro I think. So I wouldn't be surprised if this "sells" for lot more than the current bid......

Not only not cheap, but I don't believe the box and material came with that watch, so the price does not correspond. For the right price though I would not throw it out of my watch box.

There are two 2500 for sale at the moment on Chron24, and they have been there for months which will tell you what you need to know about price, condition, and desirability. There is another 2500 JUB on eBay from Switzerland which has a refinished dial, wrong hands and a very odd case. This one from Italy has the wrong crown, quite a worn case and the movement does not look too great. As Steve says, the box has nothing to do with the watch. Remember, if you are serious about purchasing a 2500 JUB, you need The Smith Table :)

As Steve says, the Table is free to all Forum members  . Here is the latest updated version -

    2500 Table 11-10-14.jpg
Here you can see that the Italian 2500 we were discussing (four from the bottom) case ref 10785641, fits in right where it should, with the other engraved back (EB) and rose gold examples. So we can say with some certainty that the watch is a genuine and mostly correct piece.

This thread is getting confusing by every post :(

ok I will take the bullet and ask the obvious

What is this Smith sheet? is this a inventory of the watches owned by the members here? why are we talking about that italian piece, is that for sale?
Do we have smith sheets for all other watches?

Curious minds wants to know

My table was something I put together to help inform me when I was in the process of purchasing my own Centenary. There is not a great deal of information about these chronometers, other than Desmond's excellent article on his blog. A number of members here chipped in with details of their own watches, and also helped me to search down all identifiable examples on the internet. As it stands now, I have 44 examples of the 2500 JUB (calibre 331). I have not attempted to do the same for the 2500 cal 333 or either of the 2499 Centenaries so far.

The table is ordered by case serial number. By that I do not mean to imply that the watches were necessarily produced or delivered in that sequential order, but there does seem to be a logic to it. We have speculated about the fact that the RG and engraved back examples appear to fall within the later range of case numbers. We have also wondered whether the engraved back was a custom option which a purchaser could specify, since there does not seem to be a consistent pattern to them except that they are in the later batch.

It would be really nice to have more details of production dates, of course. But I can't afford to order an extract of the archives for all of them ;)

Hi John, not sure if you're interested on keeping up adding watches to your table (I realized this is a very old thread) but I just bought one in Mexico (a 2500 in rose gold) and the serial no. is 10725518 (no 2500 engraved).
    Best.
