For those of you that charge the luminous dial before bedtime I want to ask, how long do you hold your Omega under the light? Have you noticed if different sorts of lights (i.e. UV) increases the lume time?

I hold mine next to a regular light bulb for about 10-15 seconds, and that gives sufficient charge to last me through the night

I typically charge mine for about 30 seconds. The writing on the dial is legible because the lume is so bright. The light source I use is a halogen light.

I'd recommend some care when using a halogen light source, as they produce as much heat as light. The best lume charging I've experienced is by using an LED torch which produces no heat and so can be held close to the crystal and dial's luminous material for as long as you like. I've an LED Lenser Police Tech Focus which produces 115 lumens and charges my watches exceptionally well. Helpfully one can also use it to see in the dark.

I second this, Halogen bulbs are not friends of watches. I killed a Seiko Monster by leaving it close to a halogen bulb, then falling asleep. Cue one partially melted dial and a ruined watch, at least it wasn't anything more expensive!

I had noticed the rather burning sensation on my wrist after charging my watch under the halogen. It never occurred to me that it might ruin the dial and lume. Thank you!

ASAP I will get the torch you suggested. With the 2254 being my only wristwatch for the time being I must baby it more than I normally would.

The old 7s26 models can be found under $200 every day. The new 4r36 (hack & hand wind capabilities) is $300 or more.
