Hi all

I have a new Omega Constellation Deluxe which needs a new strap.

I live in Hong Kong, and I can see there are small stores which sell watch straps, but I'm concerned they might do something odd which damages the watch or perhaps don't attach the straps securely.

1) Am I over-thinking this?
2) Is there a best practice for buying and attaching straps to a vintage watch?

Cheers.

A fellow Honkie! I live in Australia though...

1) No, strap changing/customisation is just another part of collecting watches - colours, brands, materials...

2) Depends on the watch - a geniune, period strap with buckle could set you back a fair amount, while a new, comfy Hirsch strap might not and still look good. As for attaching them, getting yourself a nice small tool to change straps and buckles is very invaluable and will save you money 馃榾 make sure to do the strap change with the watch front facing away from you and be gentle with the springbars 馃憤

Take it to a decent watchmaker and ask to watch while he does it. If they can not do this go to another watchmaker

With the watch you have I would not be going into it without watching someone else. A cheap strap is not for your watch.

Omega will have straps that still fit your watch.

For others this is his watch

The strap looks nice. That medallion on the back looks even better; I would say even immaculate. Well done.

I love brown and gold, it says "We'll have the Roederer '72" or " Hey! give me a Pabst Blue Ribbon". Get yourself a good springbar tool and you can swap straps when the muse come over you.

.............................Sorry the photos are poor quality.

I wish all "poor quality" photos were as bad as yours!
