Apologies if "wheels " is not the correct jargon, but I am wondering how difficult it is to find/replace Spanish text Dates for vintage watches. I do not have a specific model in mind. I will be traveling in Spain and I see some good finds there with the Spanish day calendar.

I know on a newer watch it can be changed easily. How about for a vintage?

I would assume finding a correct date wheel would be the difficult part.

Not difficult for someone who knows what they are doing (watchmaker). Not really a DIY thing.

Learning Spanish, or at least a little bit, might be easier, less costly and maybe even fun. 20190323_151244.jpg

@time flies good point, but I wonder how it effects the collectability/value in non-Spanish countries?

Since Spanish is the second largest language (calculated by native speakers) it’s not the worst bet. Had it been Icelandic you would be in more trouble ;)
But in all honesty I would love a day wheel in another language. A great conversation starter.

    Possibly but
    s3-iceland_digital--2x1--940.jpg

not the Clapham Common store anyway

However, if I need my reading glasses to focus on my watches that have day or date how is someone seeing it from across a room going to clock that it's in a non-local language and start a conversation?

Jes askin, pay no mind to it.

Some watches/movements have bilingual date disks. Makes life a little bit easier. You can also find them on ebay once in a while.

Find the local fraction of PWGELSPS. (People with great eyesight and limited sense of personal space)

Sorry for derailing a once sensible thread. :whistling:

Many calendar day rings are bi-lingual. With luck, you may find one that has English as an alternative choice. Simply activate the date re-set feature and advance the calendar (day) ring to find out if the watch has such a feature. One you set it at the language of choice, it will stay on the language of choice except for an hour or two after midnight. As to changing the Day dial? If the day on the watch you locate is in another language, you may have a problem finding a day dial in the language of your choice. And if you need such a dial, and find such a dial, this is not a swap that would be within the abilities of anyone who has to ask if the swap is difficult to do.
