    0F578111-3708-4D95-A5D0-610E5D01C53C.jpeg Hi guys,

I have been offered a Certina DS2 Super PH500. I have been talking with the owner but we couldn’t describe exactly what is the the condition of the watch. So he sent me some pictures and a video (https://files.fm/u/pka4pc5z)

As can be seen, the watch isn’t complete and some parts are in a plastic box, in particular, the original crown.

I’m not really worried about the movement condition but in the crown and case condition. Do you see anything fishy? Do you think the crown is ok?

    Would appreciate your feedback!!

Crowns and glas are not impossible, but hard to find so this you should make sure is ok.
    Movementparts is not a problem.
For the right price its a nice projekt.

Looks OK bit of work but looks like it’s got all the right parts.

I don't see anything fishy as such, but you need to make sure that all the cosmetic items (dial in particular!) are okay, as these are by far the most troublesome to find again.

It's been a while since I've seen one of these offered up, please let me know if you decide not to do a deal with the seller, as I am looking for one. I love the old Certina divers and have a few :)

    A few..... ;)

Original bracelet too. Looks like it would be a great candidate to bring back to life!

Thank you very much for your feedback. Really appreciate it.

I believe the crown is broken and can’t be used. And it is clear that the crystal ha some scratches,

But, assuming the dial and bezel are in good shape, what would be a fair price for the watch?

    Tricky question, right?

    mineral glass can be polished
and that some optical companies produce glass to order.
crown and tube require some detectivework.
suitable price is harder to answer but in ok condition they are handled in 2-3 euros without bracelet.
    Some dealers ask more.

It really is a difficult question to answer. If I am shown decent photos of the essential parts of a watch, I usually can tell what I am comfortable offering myself and I will have an reasonable idea of what the "market" will offer.

"good shape" is a very subjective term...

    What is the seller asking?

Was the seller involved in Tektite? That would be cool.

Either way, super watch and one that doesn’t pop up often, especially with the original bracelet. Good luck if you decide to pursue it further!

I know which dial you are referring to, it has more orange on it. It turns out both variations were used on Tektite. A friend of mine was one of the aquanauts on Tektite I, so I picked his brain a bit.

True. My suspicion is that they provided both dial types to the aquanauts to be tested and utilized during Tektite. Turns out my friend far preferred the Rolex Submariner over the Certina either way...

    Very nicePH1000!

Will ask for some good pictures of the watch but meanwhile I can show you another video of it: https://files.fm/f/znrsxqt9

And will try to know a little bit more about the watch’s history. I know it belonged to the owner’s grandfather, nothing else.

I was just given a link to the watxh advert. I wouldn't pay that amount of money for a PH500 in that condition with those pictures. Far too many unknowns. Anyone asking €3k for a PH500 better present prospective buyers with a MUCH better package especially presentation-wise. €3k isn't a far fetched price, but not something you'd wish to make a gamble on.
