Dear Certina fans,

I found a DS PH 200 M for a resonable price:
To my naked eye the watch looks much better than the photos would suggest.
The only thing that bothers me is the damage on the bezel near "50". - Any ideas how to source a better bezel?
What do you think about the watch?

kind regards,

Timo

resonable price

= damaged bezel, for a better bezel you'll likely to need to find a better watch = more expensive.

This captures the look much better:

Even though I am not sure about the lume everything else looks quite original to me.
The dial seems be in very good condition, most of the stains belong to the crystal.

The search for a replacement bezel will certainly be a hard task, so you shouldn't rely on it succeeding at all.
If you will be happy with the watch depends in first place whether you can make your inner peace with the damage. Wearing it on your left wrist, you won't have it constantly in your field of vision, at least with long sleeves - so I guess that's something to consider.

Kind regards,
F.Antl

I have a similar watch on a Certina bracelet. I doubt you can find a replacement bezel in better condition. Vintage watches come with scars. I like it because you don't have to worry as much about scrathes.

From Kaplan`s right ?
Lovely watch at a steal price i think so stop worrying and accept and enjoy a vintage watch, one of the coolest designs in history if you ask me 👍

It's a nice Certina with little scars.
But overall very nice!

BTW: Sourcing a genuine stainless steel bracelet is even harder.
You could find the correct bracelet (the normal DS of this time has the same kind of bracelet), but you will not find the correct endlnks with 19mm.....

Greetings!

Why- oh-why did the reissue have to be the size of a pie plate?!😡

Because real men don't wear reasonably sized watches.
I see, so watch width is an illusion to phallus girth- thus the larger the watch the smaller the girth since it’s merely a surrogate. Perhaps why I’m comfortable with my 31mm military watches. 😉

I think you're on to something. Maybe the reason I'm okay with wearing small watches isn't because I'm effeminate, as was once suggested when I was looking for Speedking, ref 6420. Perhaps, I'm just confident in myself.

Actually used to own both original and reissue version.
The reissue wears quite nice actually (but original 40.5mm is just so perfect)

They did the sames with my very favorite of the certina bunch : the DS2 ==> a 40mm reissue for a 37mm original...
Nothing beat vintage proportions

I bought the reissue- tried so hard to convince myself that it wasn’t too big- only about 1.8mm larger than a Speedmaster…it’s got a thick bezel…it wears small…nope. Just too friggin big. Sold it to a member here and he too tried to love it…and then sold it.

It's actually only 0.8mm bigger than a speedmaster ^^

I appreciate the correction, you are correct…but his ass still looks fat in those jeans.
