Description
Beautiful vintage all-rounder by Certina from the 60s/70s. This watch has been serviced in June 2020 and runs smoothly as a result, ready to be worn daily if required.
Everything but the strap is original to the watch. The dial is untouched and in amazing condition. The original crown is recessed into the case, and the generic black leather strap features a period correct Certina buckle.
Because the crown is so deeply recessed, it is well protected against bumps and accidentally catching it on something, but it makes it a bit harder to operate if you have thicker fingers (like me). Handwinding is possible but awkward due to this design; luckily the watch is automatic and it takes only little motion to get it running.
The watch is in great condition for its age, with the regular scuffs and small scratches on the case -- nothing too grave as the photos will show. The linen-like dial is in excellent, almost unmarked condition. There is a slight nick/crack on the glass roughly at the 6:45 hour marker position, but I found this quite impossible to photograph (see photos below).
Setting the date
The crown pulls out only to one position (to set the time), so there is no quickset date position. However, Certina included a somewhat "quick" mechanism: the date is set fairly easily by setting the time past midnight, then gently rolling the hands back till about 22:00, and then back to past midnight to go to the next date. Repeat until the right date is reached.
Dimensions
Diameter without crown: 34 mm
Lug to lug: 41 mm
lug width (strap): 18mm
Thanks for looking and don't hesitate to contact me for any question. Ships worldwide (DHL parcel within the EU, contact me for overseas locations).
