So, the 1961 Seamaster 14755 I purchased off ebay seems to have gone missing in the mail after being mailed from UK to Canada. It was successfully delivered to my brothers address in UK from the seller. Between there and here, some thieving bastard seems to have nabbed it. Would be most grateful if anyone comes across it for sale, if they could please let me know. Not much chance of recovering it, but clutching at straws etc. Photos below are from the original ebay ad. Thanks in advance, guys!
Was it insured between UK and Canada? What is the tracking code information saying & have you contacted the courier service?
Sadly, it happens. Just another reminder to take care with shipping and insurance, which sometimes gets ignored in the euphoria of the expected delivery.
Insured for bugger all, as i) insurance limit is pitiful vs. value, ii) Would pay Canada tax on insured value, and iii) I have never had anything ever go missing before. Shipped by Royal Mail. Their tracking # is sodding useless. Merely says left UK for Canada. I contacted them and they said once it leaves UK shores they have no idea of where it is, until it is delivered.
Yeah, one hope is that it is backlogged in CDN customs, but the correct 7912 to go with it only took a week to show, up vs. 4 weeks and counting for the watch (oh the irony!).
Michael, Many thanks for your kind offer - very much appreciated! Tracking #: RN22149xxxxGB Shipped with Royal Mail on March 2 using 'International tracked and signed' service from Hailsham, UK to Toronto, Canada.
Don't give up yet, it might just be some stupid things going on before its delivered to you... one time a zipcode wasn't correct and it kept circling around the automated sorting facility for 2 months...
Thats absolutely pants, it very strange for a Royal Mail parcel to go missing, have you contacted royal mail and begun an investigation, I have been here once before and I kicked up almighty hell with royal mail and low and behold it did help, I have the direct email of the director of operations (which was the source I used) and it genuinely did work
I would recommend updating you original post with the serial number. A while back I had a watch the buyer claimed never arrived. A post on a forum with the serial number led to a good result. It's a long shot, but might as well. Here is the link to that thread: http://forums.watchuseek.com/f20/update-long-shot-stolen-omega-watch-479699.html
I wouldn't panic just yet, it is not unknown for items from the U.K to Canada to be held up in customs for a while, you can also keep trying Canada posts tracking service too to check if the item comes onto their system. My gut feeling is all is well, I think it will turn up in the next week or two. It is very rare that items go missing, the only problems I have had are with buyers saying the item has not arrived, they soon change their minds when I track the item through their own countries postal tracking The Royal mail tracking is poor when sending items out of the country. I have a good feeling for you
