    Hi everyone,

My obsession with the 2913 and 165-014 continues!

I've come across one that looks pretty good but as always, there's always something a bit off.

Has anyone ever seen a caseback with the engravings almost worn out? I mean, I get that it's an old watch but how on earth would metal engravings get rubbed off so evenly?

I suppose this is something that might be caused by rough wear on a NATO strap - they can wear down casebacks if worn constantly and in rough conditions. Considering it's a 50yr old watch I wouldn't think it a red flag in and of itself, but I'd also look to spend less money on that particular watch because of it.

Another possibility is that at some point someone tried to open it with a pair of scissors or something and badly scratched the caseback, so it was polished to remove the damage.

That's just years of wear with a wetsuit, very common for old divers watches that were worn as dive watches. The rubbing of the wet wetsuit and sand grit.
    Is the front well worn.

This is the type of watch I like.

And if I could buy a old well worn Rolex for a decent price I would finally go to the dark side. (Anyone finds a one owner worn hard going at decent price)

Typical wear for a well used but not abused tool watch.
