I have a Seamaster 166.065 and I believe its missing the retaining spring which fits inside the rear case. The spring pushes down on the movement holder / enlargement ring when the case back is closed. I've tried to find the part number for this spring but without success, however when I was looking at a 166.041 Seamaster it has the same size and design of spring and this seems to be a common case and case back - there are a few 166.041 case back on ebay with this spring (this picture is from one such sale) I'm trying to find out the part number for the original spring for a 166.065 or alternatively for the 166.041 spring and availability This is the 166.065 Seamaster I have, it would be nice to make it complete Thanks
Thanks Al. It is weird that they dont show the spring listed since the 166.041 definitely has one and the 166.065 needs something to push down on the enlargement ring. The enlargement ring is located using rubber oval things which fit between the enlargement ring and the case, but they just centralise it and there needs to be something which pushes it towards the crystal to close the gap between the crystal and the dial
The ID of the case back is 29.6mm and it has a 1mm flat ledge for the spring to sit. If you have a few spare in that size which you are willing to sell on?
