Case serial number on the Dark side of the moon

Hi everyone (obligatory first post courtesy 😜) and I apologize if this was already asked somewhere, I could not find it neither with search or power of the google.

Today I almost bought 2 years old Speedy Dark side of the moon, and while in the end it had problems with the movement one other thing also bothered me. I could not find the serial number anywhere on the exterior of the watch. I didn't have much time, the strap was on and I was without a loupe but the only thing on lugs was Omega globe. Is that normal?

Thank you for the answer.

The serial number should be on the bottom of the lug at the 7 o clock position. Mine is.

I don't have any pictures, I was checking it in a used watches shop. I seriously doubt it was not genuine, the weight, materials, quality and everything had the right feel and shop is well known with solid reputation, but in the end the movement was broken. I think they were more shocked than me when we figured that out 😀

I'm not thinking that this one was weird in any way and the whole experience was really nice, if I would think faster and ask them there they would probably show me the serial. While that opportunity is gone it was enough to spark some fire, I just loved it, and I would like to be prepared if I find myself buying used DSOTM from other, more shady sources. I would also guess that the ceramic case, whole movement on a display and quite uncommon configuration of registers is not making it the most popular watch to fake?

Odd a bad movement on a watch that shoul still be under warranty.

And yes they are faked.

Was there serial on movement?
Is this maybe maybe a replacement case without serial?

yes they are faked.

There are fake xSTOM watches? I suppose I'm lucky to not have seen any of these dumpster fires yet. I cannot imagine they're that good, unlike some of the other scary close fakes of other models? Yikes! Certainly cements my conviction to keep my dealings to ADs, these forums, and a very few vetted outside sellers.

I had couple of minutes with the watch, I started to worry about all possible things later when I was already traveling home. I could not find any information about exact location of serial on the watch, I could not remember seeing it on the case (I have found some pictures now and it is quite obvious, but I was quite in a heat of the moment) so hence this topic. I don't plan to buy anything, old or new, without stamped warranty and all numbers in place.

And like I said already, I don't want to insinuate that they were trying to sell shady watch, I just want to be 100% ready next time I'm in such position. As far as I know it could have all the papers and numbers and it may at well be serviced by Omega right now. Or I may have dodged a bullet by pure luck, but I would like to keep the shop out of it for now.

I know there are some cheap fakes, but they are so bad it's kinda funny and I would guess they don't really trick anyone. Or are there fakes good enough that you would really need to pay attention to details? I don't think I have nerves for such sort of things.

Have a fake DSotM here I brought home from Beijing for the fun of it, there is no way you'd confuse it with the real thing. Pretty much everything wrong, don't think they actually fake the ceramic cases (yet). Need to crack it open at some point to see what's in it - no glass bottom unsurprisingly.

Ahhh, a shiny VK64A surprised me on opening the case - no wonder the small second doesn't move, it is the chrono minute totalisator. Wonder of Chinese technology!
