Ok, I've gone through the threads here and on the net but can't find info for an 8 digit case number, no dots dashes or letters. Can someone point me in the right direction. Thanks
Could be a case serial number: Look in lower right. 11M is about 1949 and 12M around 1952-3. gatorcpa
Movement is from 1942-3. Not unusual for there to be a large gap between movement and case dates. The charts are only an approximation anyway. gatorcpa
I came across it by accident and tossed a bid in thinking I wouldn’t get it and did. There wasn’t a lot of research time. Think it may be redial and maybe wrong hands. Here’s the link, let’s hear the bad stuff https://m.ebay.fr/itm/18k-SOLID-GOL...5.m1851&_mwBanner=1&_rdt=1#vi__app-cvip-panelPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news: Dial is a poor redial, crown is wrong and unfortunately also the balance is wrong but the price you paid was not outragious...
The seller swears the dial is original, I didn’t think so, and the balance is original. He says he can provide another crown as well.
Sorry to contradict, the dial is 100% redone and it is even a bad redial - the seller may swear whatever he wants... The balance in your watch is a monometallic uncut version which is definitely wrong for this movement - the balance must be a bimetallic cut Earnshaw balance. Crown has to be smooth without any logo and should match the colour of the case. And an additional remark: I have checked the bids on the auction - for me it looks like a massiv shill bidding
I had started to say the same thing, but then hesitated since I wasn't sure it would be helpful to point it out. But I have to agree that the bidding was very suspicious.
oh I believe you. I thought the dial was re finished but I don’t know enough to make a decision based on the movement. I looked at the biding and it’s very concerning. Anyway I contacted the seller and canceled the sale based on you info
