From a lot of other ebay sellers then yes, I'd agree with you. From Sab?? It is what it is, he (and a couple of other Japanese sellers) has a bulletproof reputation amongst a lot of collectors. He would never sell a Franken or a fake, it's just not worth his reputation. As the saying goes, 'buy the seller'.

I've bought a 3570.40 from him before checked it against Omega in Bienne turned out franken. Don't always trust a seller...

He of course offered a full refund but still annoying and time waste. This was long ago when I was just a collector

Ok fair call. You would be the first person I've ever seen on any forum that has not had a good experience with him. I'll keep that in mind, thanks.

It is a good looking watch but because there are no markers or indication of the series besides a certain serial range that can help identify these. It is best to arm yourself with the information as the I've helped someone who thought they bought a real mitsukoshi speedmaster but was a franken. It happens to us all as we get too excited sometimes lol I am guilty of that.

Hi all, my first post here. Here’s the story, short version first: I bought this watch and Omega confirmed for me it’s a legit 3570.40, not a franken or mod.

Long version: I had wanted a Japan LE for a long time, but knew there were a lot of people modding 3570.50s with the dial and selling them as 3570.40. So I told myself I’d be willing to overpay as long as I bought it with box and papers from a trusted Japanese source like sabashioyakiz1. They don’t come up all that often, and over the past several months when he had one I was sniped at the last second or wasn’t available to watch the auction as it ended.

So when this one came up from Sab, I was available to snipe and was happy to overpay, and I won! The watch arrived and all was well. I never knew this forum existed and participated on other forums, then found this forum last month while researching vintage Speedmasters. Then I saw this thread and my heart sank. So I emailed Omega USA asking them to tell me the correct reference number for this serial. I was prepared to ask for a refund if it turns out to be a mod.

It didn’t help that during the time I was waiting for response from Omega several other 3570.40s showed up on eBay (including 2 from the same seller!) and sold for much less than I paid! But, then I got this response which resolved the matter:

    "Dear Mr. K___,
    Thank you for your inquiry.
The information that can be provided is that serial, 77129848, references to model 35704000
originally sold to an authorized Omega dealer in 2004.
    Best Regards,

I was REALLY relieved, as you could imagine!

I just wanted to share this to add to the community’s knowledge base – there are in fact legit Japan LEs with serials outside 7713xxxx, maybe starting with the high 7712XXXX range like mine. And also, I’m glad I found this place! Lots of great info! I’ll do my best to contribute when I can.

    Regards,
    Andy

Question - should the 3570.40 come in a wooden presentation box? I assume as there were only 2004 made and all for the JDM that they all shipped the same way?

    Thanks!

That was the correct box they were sold with 13 years ago. I'd be more worried about getting a correct warranty card and serial number

I've seen several images on Google of them with a standard red soft box - are these incorrect? And what's that about the warranty card? Some have been sold with cards that don't match the serial on the watch? Thanks!

I'm fairly sure they were all delivered with wooden boxes. What I would look for is a warranty card with the right reference number, sold in Japan, that matches the serial number on the watch. The box is fairly irrelevant compared to the warranty card

I got mine last year (with red box) and checked this. Apparently the type of box was as allocated from his stock by the selling dealer - so either type then current is 'correct'. I agree with Cad that the Warranty Card is more important and should at least show the Country Code for Japan - 5340(0).

These were delivered in both type of boxes, wooden and red. Always check the serial with Omega with this one, there are so many 3570.50 redialled as .40.

Warranty code is a must also. Wooden boxes can be found easily enough.

Where exactly at Omega do you send such request for verification? And can you expect an answer within reasonable time? Otherwise the watch for sale in question is long time sold...
