Can’t decide- Speedmaster Professional OR Speedmaster Moonphase

Hi OF,

I am having a VERY difficult time deciding between these two beauties as I am about to reach a pretty big milestone and wanted to purchase a Speedmaster to celebrate. The Speedmaster Professional is a classic since it’s been to the moon (interested in the Hesalite version) but the Moonphase really surprised me when I tried it on at the AD. The sun ray brushed dial and that Moonphase.

If I could swing it, I would buy both, but that isn’t an option at the moment. I am curious to hear what OF members think. Your feedback is much appreciated. Below is a picture of each on my wrist.

I personally love the traditional Speedy Pro though I don’t think I can tell you which one to get. It’s your wrist that you’ll be staring at. If you like both, then I don’t think either will do you wrong. That said- choose the one that does a little more for you feeling wise and make a goal to pick up the other in the future. Here’s mine. I’m creating goals to pick up my second

Of the two, the Pro is the icon, but go with your heart. And then get the other one later. 😀

If you are just going to own one Omega, you should go for the classic Speedy Pro.

I agree with most of the above, the original speedy is a must have, that said they are plentiful, so you would have no issues picking one up later. The only gamble is whether prices will rise with the introduction of the newer 3861 movement.....

I've been a bit biased with the Speedmaster, but that moonphase is a handsome piece!

If a Moonphase is the decider, what about the previous model Professional with the moonphase at the top. The best of both worlds.

I would prefer hesalite speedy pro. The blue dial version of moon phase looks nice in the photo 😀. I have not seen it in metal.

Go for the classic Hesalite Speedy Pro first, get that and then start saving for a Moonphase later on, you must have a big birthday/anniversary coming at some point which is a good excuse for a second watch

Speedy pro is iconic - I'd go with that. Then you can shop for a triple-date moonphase, another classic combo. Both on the same watch is very busy but you are buying to please you, not any of us.

If you are only going to buy one watch and need to have chrono and moonphase functions, you may want to also look at the Zenith El Primero moonphase.

I would love both. But I was very surprised at how “good” the Moonphase looked and felt when I tried it on. Just can’t decide which to start with first.

I like professional better. It's timeless. Moon phase on a speedmaster is an overkill in my opinion.

Agree with the others, start with hesalite pro and the go from there. It's a very affordable watch, even as new, and is easy to wear. Once you get it you can decide if you want to go to the bigger, thicker automatic moon phase version.

Should also mention that I already have an Omega... a new Seamaster Professional 300M with the wave dial in Black. The Speedmaster would be my second Omega

If it were me, I’d get the classic Speedy Pro. Then I’d get this Moonphase.
But if I were you, I’d get whichever one comes to mind when you wake up in the morning with a clear, refreshed head. The one the pops up in your minds eye over the course of the day.
