Universal Geneve (ULTRA SLIM DRESS?) 14k Polerouter Movement 28J Automatic Please help me identify this watch I inherited in 1983... On the back of the watch face are the numbers "21863" Any thoughts? I haven't a clue and I can't find anything that is the exact visual match... I appreciate your willingness to help me Thanks! I am looking to specifically UPDATE this items' insurance rider with a detailed description AND appraisal. I originally insured 32 years ago (1983), exactly as described by the jeweler's appraisal: "MEN'S GOLD WATCH $ 1,000.00". Given the scarcity of the watch AND the uniqueness of the band.... I am looking to craft a detailed and accurate description that I believe would include: Model Name Model Number Model Year Movement Solid Gold or Gold Cap Weight of Band (from jeweler or appraiser), et cetera Very possible this in Gold? See pictures
I found this one by Googling "Universal Geneve Automatic 28": Looks exactly the same to me. Here is a description of the watch: http://www.connectingwatches.com/fo...-polerouter-movement-j-automatic!--57053.html The movement is one of the micro-rotor movements that were also used in the Polerouters. A typical example: I don't think the band is original to the watch, but looks nice anyway. gatorcpa
GATORCPA.... Nothin greater than a Gator! Thanks for your help! So, for starters Universal Geneve 14k (ULTRA SLIM DRESS?) Polerouter Movement 28J Automatic
I guess my question is whether or not Universal Geneve made a ultra slim dress version of the Polerouter?
If it doesn't say Polerouter on the dial, it isn't considered part of the Polerouter line. The "Jet" models were a little smaller and thinner than the standard Polerouters, so they could be considered a slim dressy version: Hope this helps, gatorcpa

I would highly recommend a visit to a watchmaker, or a reputable jeweler that has a watchmaker on staff. They should be able to complete your appraisal in a format acceptable to your insurance company. I highly doubt that your insurance company would insure your watch based on the information acquired on this board so far. If you intend to wear the watch, inquiring about a proper service of the movement would be a good idea as well. Take care, gatorcpa
You can tell if it is gold or not by the presence of hallmarks. Both the watch case and the bracelet should be marked.
