At first I thought it was a Speedy...but on a closer look the dial looks too light or is that just the photo? Anyone with any guesses, or perhaps knows?

I guess Universal Genève Compax, Heuer and Breitling might have been popular with celebrities in the mid to late 1960s in California.

Yup, havent seen it myself but it sounds like a cool road trip ? And James Taylor with hair is a sight worth seeing. Desotos made some nice Valjoux chronographs like these

I need to find that movie. I just completed Route 66 this spring, and would love to go back and do it again.

Never heard of Desotos. Cool looking watch. I was going to say Seiko, but looks like it's on a strap. Universal Geneve was popular among other musicians (Clapton, for example) so that was a good guess as well. But it sounds like Desotos has some history here with Wilson?
