Can you help me out with my Frankenstein watch?

    Hello all,
I was perusing through the internets and I saw a watch that looked like mine called the Zenith A386. Mine does not have the tri-color dial like that one, but it looks similar. It does have that "Mark I" case that you talk about, but a 232 serial number which seems higher and it doesn't have the plain case back, but the 4 point star.
From what I can gather the dial is the A788.
So, how did I get possession, and why Frankenstein? Well, my dad was a Zenith rep back in the 1970's and about 20 years ago I came across a few of his watches in a safe, likely haven't been touched since 1970's. As a 20 yo I liked the ladder bracelet on this case and everything, but I preferred the blue dial so my Uncle, who was an authorized Rolex rep, had them swapped. I guess you can call my watch "bespoke."
Anyway, I'm looking for any additional information or feedback you can provide. Unfortunately, both my father and uncle have passed.
I can take more photos if needed.
    Thanks a bunch.

    Hi
in your watch only the dial is wrong for to be a correct Zenith A3818
Serial numbers in caseback are re-engraved

    GIGI,
Thank you for your help. So you think the watch is an A3818?
I've attached another shot of the back.
    Thanks again. IMG_20180227_1354200.jpg

Your case is very unusual, as your family connection allowed you to do something that mere mortals can't do.

The issue from a collector's perspective is that there is no way to prove that what you did was done by an approved Zenith representative. So many people incorrectly swap watch dials after the fact, it becomes impossible to know what was or was not a factory correct dial.

Very nice watch (for an "El Segundo" :p).
