I recently stumbled up on the following watch and would appreciate any help. I am definitely no expert and anything will help. Value, year, condition. Please and thank you. Are you buying/selling/found it in a drawer and just curious to know??

    Better pics would help.

Have you done a search on line for Seamaster 120?

    Is it quartz or automatic?

Looks like a 36 mm from the 80's to late 90's. If it works, it might be worth a few hundred dollars. Even the automatics don't fetch more than $800, and that's if they're in better shape than that.

It's quartz I think, or it would say "CHRONOMETER" below Seamaster.

It's a quartz model you can tell because the date window intrudes into the wave pattern, it doesn't on the Chronometer.
I used to own the exact same watch and mine dated to 1998. The whole watch including bracelet looks to have been polished, it should have a combination of brushed and polished finish.

It’s pretty tired... what’s your budget? We can find something better.

What's the price? Looks quite tired and isn't a particularly desirable piece. I'd keep looking but if you're keen on it, it should be very cheap.

My budget is around $1000. Clearly I know this piece is less. What would be the value on this one? $200,400, more. Thanks

You're much, much better off spending 600-1000 on a better watch than buying this, even if it's only 250.

Well at first it was the name brand... I want something that lasts so I could pass it down to my kid(s).

My limited research on eBay would indicate that the majority of these and the blue dialled versions seem to be on offer from Japanese sellers for around the $750 mark. Perhaps this model was popular there. You would have to factor in customs and postage on top.

I suggest you give some thought to what you want a watch to look like and what sort of functionality you are looking for. Try some google searches on subjects like say "best value watch under $1000" which throws up articles like this https://gearpatrol.com/2018/01/09/best-affordable-watches-under-1000/ and then go down some rabbit holes. If you have any watch dealers near you, have a look at the different makes, styles and price ranges. Also try them on :) - it's important that you get an idea of what sizes and styles suit your tastes (and wrist size/lifestyle).

Don't jump on the first thing you see, but take a little time, accumulate a little more knowledge and there is more of a chance that you'll end up with something that you like and that will in time become an heirloom.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you very much. I appreciate your view. I will look more into it. I will pass on the Seamaster from the original post.
