As much as I'd love to have a pre-moon, the prices are beyond my current capability, but I really want a Speedie.

I've decided to look for a good quality 145.022, the older, the better. Problem is, I don't care for any green tint in the lume; the more yellow-orange (even brown) the better! I suppose, with time, they all turn to orange, but I don't want to wait years!

I haven't seen any like this yet in the 145.022's, but perhaps I haven't been in the right place/right time.

Am I going to have to spend over $2500 for older?

With a bit of patience you should be able to get a nice 861 Speedmaster with that. A common inscription case back '71 or '74 will probably be the best balance between price and patina but you could also get a nice pre-moon case back '69 for that.

I was of the same mind, yellow/brown not green for me too.
Here's mine, a 145022-69 and a 145022-76,(no dots) both just about the same hue.
Stash a minimum of $3K, including a COA for one in unabused, complete condition with original bracelet.

The second one (1976) is inline for a COA after the new year rings in.

Hey, now, I don't think you need both of those... has anyone claimed 'Dibs', yet? If not....

    DIBS!

Thanks for your reassurance... gotta keep looking. :)

You never know until you try it... Isn't that the whole point of Green Eggs and Ham?

Anyway, seems these ladies like the taste:

    Interesting picture, unfortunate results...:(

I guess they didn't know back then that radioactive tritium was cancer causing . The gal on the right may have been concerned, as the bowl of water (?) in front of her was probably what she used instead of her saliva, me thinks::confused2::...

That photo is from a play called Radium Girls. I haven't seen it but I'm guessing it's no comedy.
