I have owned a SMP for about 15 years and just discovered this forum. This is not going to improve my restraint when it comes to expanding my collection... My grandfather gave me a few of his old watches many years ago, and I have been unable to identify the Omega pocket watch. Does anyone recognize this? It still runs, though I've not checked the accuracy yet. I'm considering having it restored, for sentimental reasons, though it would be fun to carry a pocket watch. I'd have to dust off my bowler and cane, too. Any suggestions on where to have a restoration for something like this done? Jeff
Hi, It looks like a 'Diplomat' a nice model created in 1936 and still on the catalog in the 40's if I remember well. Worth restoring IMHO. Case and dial look in good condition so an experienced watchmaker should be able to restore it. Do you have any picture of the movement and the inside of the case back? BTW, if you don't want to wear it as a pocketwatch, you can still use it as a desk clock.
Here in the 1940 catalog : Here one with caliber 38.5LT1 : Here another one (same ref CK124) but with a 37.6 caliber :
That's fantastic. Thank you. I did manage to take both the front and back off. Not sure if this tells you anything: The inscription inside the back says, ACIER STAYBRITE FAB SUISSE SWISS-MADE 9427274
