Can anyone identify my watch?

Hi there

as a newbie to these forums I was hoping that someone might be able to help me identify a recent gift from my deceased uncle?

As you can see in the pics it’s a Constellation vintage model I believe from the 60’s, it has the 167.005 code on the inside of the back plate, but I can’t find another one which has the Arabic quarter numbers! It is totally original as far as I can see and keeps brilliant time with a power reserve of around 30 hours I believe from its automatic winding.

can anyone throw any light on this please?

Thanks

Looks authentic and original. Nice Connie! Don't worry.
Get the movement serviced, but don't let anyone polish the case or touch hands or dial!
IMO there will someone answer more pecise and probably find a picture fom a catalogue...

Hi Paul,
It looks like a mid-sixties 167.005 Constellation in very nice condition. Since you’ve had the caseback off, you’ve probably already checked and photographed the movement.
So, what would you like to know?

Arabic numbers are not to common and even more rare in combination with the no date version of the Constellation.

As said above a original looking and nice conditon watch received from a family member - what could you ask for more? 😀

Even if running good you should think about a service especially if it will be your daily wearer.

At least the caseback gasket should be changed and the crystal should be a polish.

How rare you think it is since I can’t find another like it with the Arabic quarters, and of course the watch model number.

I did take pics with case off but they aren’t too great, should have checked before replacing it!

I don't see photos of the dial. Were they removed?
No, sent them on previous post, the site said my post hadn’t gone but it had, so think now 2 threads! Will attach again now, thanks

cheers for that Dan, I think I saw that one but the winder looks different, I thought Connies had the flatted winder like mine? I have no idea what it’s worth, although I don’t have any paperwork, just knowledge that my Uncle had it from new and looked after it well!

Crowns are often changed. I thought that your question was about the dial since you said that you couldn't find another one, so I added links to a couple of other examples.

I guess the listing I linked gives you a sense of what it is worth. If it's important to you to be more accurate, you can do some research by searching for other 167.005 listings for more comps, the dial won't have a major influence on value IMO. In fact, you can even include other dog-leg dome-dial Constellations. I would look for auction sales, eBay sales (not asking prices), and forum sales. I would not use Chrono24 asking prices as comps because they are often unrealistic.

Noted about the crown, thought they’d have replaced with identical one for authenticity. Didn’t see what the one you sent sold for, just said £0.0, but would be nice to know! Won’t sell of course, lucky to have been given it to enjoy!

thanks again

Well, if it’s an issue of price or value, eBay (sold) and Chrono24 will give you an idea of price for insurance purposes.
If you’re anxious to know so that you can sell it, an auction usually gives a fair reflection.
If it’s value, then as an heirloom, you probably can’t put a price on it.

You should note that sales prices and insurance evaluations are two very different things. Sales price is how much this particular watch will fetch if sold (dependant on a lot of factors!) whilst insurance evaluation is what you will be compensated should it be lost etc, and that is typically calculated from what a modern, replacement would cost in a store. The insurance evaluation is much more than what you'd expect to earn from selling a watch like this (around £1000 or so).

Yes, I’m aware of the difference thanks, I have other watches which follow your guidance.

You’ve valued it at what I had estimated it to be.

one last thing, roughly how much would you typically expect to pay for a service on one of these vintage Omega watches?

Many thanks
