Hello!
Just been sorting through old stuff looking for something and came across this old watch. I have no idea where I got it and if I bought it, would have only paid a couple of quid. It appears to be working as it has changed time since I wound it. Strap clearly a new cheap version but the question is, is it a genuine watch or a cheap replica to match the strap?!
I do rather like it and with a new strap/bracelet I would probably wear it.
Interested to find out more about it really and if it is bin worthy or actually a keeper.....

Still not found what I was looking for!
Thanks in advance

Re-finished dial will also negate any "collector" value.

Welcome to the forum, if it keeps time and you’d enjoy wearing it, then it’s a keeper. Unfortunately if it doesn’t keep time it’s not worth fixing it.
The cost of service or repair would be about 10 times the value of the watch. Whether the strap is original or not does not really matter, you can see it looks very similar to the one that was supposed to be on it.
you could find a more colorful one on Ebay for just a little money, you just have to search for vintage ladies watch straps. I don’t presently remember what those are called though.

sorry, can you explain?

Collector like to have watches as original as possible. They like them to be like when the watch left the factory or with a natural patina, they do not like refinished dial.

Think of it like a Ford model T or a Stradivarius violin painted purple.

And for some reason most collectors don`t collect women's watches. So if you want to start collecting women's watches could be had cheaper than men`s watches.
