Camping on a rainy day.

So, what do some folks do. Many of us from our camping group drove 15 miles to the Royal Tyrell Museum in Drumheller, Alberta. We spent two hours, enraptured by the exhibits. It has been 40 years since we visited there, and what changes! Thursday, June 10 (today) was season opening day. I’ll just show a few highlights. And an obligatory watch shot, for context.

Great camping watch, and an impressive natural history display. I remember as a kid finding fossils in Colorado (western part of the state around the Grand Junction area). The area was a gold mine for fossil hunting and it really sparked my interest as a youngster.

While camping, I always refer to rain as 'liquid sunshine'...seems to help shift perspective a bit and make is suck less!

I could have let you wear my all original Jurassic Park watch. No Superluminova on this rare piece! Seriously, looks like a nice trip. Enjoy!

Dam! If only I had known! But however might you have considered letting that priceless treasure out of sight!

The Tyrell Museum deserves its status as a World Heritage site! Had the weather been better, I’d have enjoyed taking a look at the surrounding “badlands”.

Those surrounding Badlands are breathtaking and a glimpse into prehistoric times. I miss driving up to Drumheller. Horseshoe Canyon is the popular spot yet Horsethief Canyon was always my favourite with better views and some fun scrambles. Cacti and even the odd rattlesnake in summer. Yup, a prehistoric desert in Alberta, Canada.

Holy s*** this just uprooted a deep deep deep memory of a Jurassic Park watch I had when I was a kid.
Is that really yours? Hahaha I'm blown away that I somehow remembered this. The Burger King Collection!
I had the one on the far left...

Ha! It was in a pile of old watches that I bought at a garage sale if I recall correctly. There were two. I buy the old piles for the buckles. The other one was filled with water. I have not tried a new battery in this one! I’d rather wear my “Canuck rescued” Sky-Rocket. I will gladly send it to you if you like. (The BK watch that is…). Send me a PM!

Looks like a great museum. They do a better job of the displays than they do at the Museum of the Rockies near me in Bozeman
