Calling the blue Rolex OP a “Tiffany Dial” is just pure fraud yet it’s working

Perhaps I live in a different timeline, but In mine the PP Nautilus was released several months after the Rolex OP and the Rolex was already being sold for stupid money and nicknamed the “Tiffany” dial.

Not disagreeing with you that people are stupid to buy it at the prices they are, but the Instagram influencers named it a “Tiffany” dial well before PP released their watch, not the sellers.
The blue dial didn’t carry any significant premium over the other colors until December 11 when the Nautilus was released.

This one is more aptly named.

I still wonder what the guys at Omega/Swatch said when this one came up. Something along the lines of ‘this one’s gonna be the butt-end of jokes for years to come, but we gotto be consistent so let’s go all out’…

I’m sure most of the non-English speaking world doesn’t understand why we are snickering in our corner.

It really does blow my mind that

A). Rolex grey market dealers are that completely dishonest and scummy that they’re still selling these as “Tiffany dials” or “Tiffany blue” when it has nothing even remotely to do with Tiffany at all

B). The market is stupid enough to pay this much money for a dial that is clearly a sky blue colour and not Tiffany blue to begin with, has no relation to Tiffany, and is probably being heavily faked on other colour OPs now that the price is this high.

To some extent I actually hope some of these guys get burned on these as there’s too much stupid money from stupid people floating around at the moment.

as they say "a fool & his money are easily parted".....

I’m curious if it does extend to the entire English-Speaking world. I’d be interested to hear from non-U.S. English speakers.

Here in the U.S. it is common amongst non-scientist to pronounce the planet ‘your-ANUS’ - but the proper pronunciation, and I think even among scientists in the U.S., is more like ‘YOUR-an-os” which sort of renders the snickers more moot.

But, we’ll always have the spelling

Props to you on the Pulp Fiction reference... perfection in a watch meme.

So it’s settled then :

Uranus is Tiffany-Blue ( ::rimshot:: ) …
Uranus was around long before Tiffany…
hence these dials are actually Uranus blue.

Maybe the whole Omega-Swatch message is ‘Rolex Tiffany dials are Uranus’…

Some Easter viewing pleasure …

I’ll show myself out (and Happy Easter) 😀

I used to own a 1963 birth-year Tiffany VW Beetle just like this one below, with a lovely ‘Pope’s nose’ rear number plate light.
If only I’d known then what I know now.....

(real colour ‘turkisblau’)

I believe that spending thousands on watches is pretty foolish, but “educated fool” is basically my middle name 👍
