I recently was asked by a Cartier gent's watch owner if the movements are in house. I was unable to tell him. The movement is not Chinese, but I don't recognize who the maker might be. I was unaware that there is such a thing as an in-house Cartier movement. Anyone know?

As I understand it, they use quite a few people for movements... including Piaget... not sure what that is though.

Did I SAY it was Chinese? No! I offered the opinion it is NOT Chinese. I was unaware that Cartier had an in-house movement. So I'm wondering who the movement might have been made by.

I know but Cartier and Chinese only works in the boutique context. I know they fell from grace but they've been trying of late.

I think they made a big move to manufacture movements a little while back and have facilities in La Chaux-de-Fonds. I believe they also use some of the old Roger Dubuis facilities in Geneva to make Geneva Seal watches. A good chunk of their newer stuff is now in-house (I think).
