Here's some info on the 2500: http://www.timezone.com/library/horologium/horologium631670193290479607
Its a very good movement. Its based on the Omega Cal 1120 with a co-axial escapement added, which in turn is based on the venerable ETA 2892-A2, one of the strongest and most widely used chronometer movements in the watchmaking industry. There were some cases of people having issues with them, nearly all ended up being a case of over lubrication which was corrected under warranty. What piece in particular are you considering?
I bought today a omega de ville 4875.31.01.I heard that this calibre came at three types a) b) and c.But when i bought my watch the lady at the store told that this problem has been solved. The basic reason i bought this particular model is because it has the calibre 2500 which was the first calibre that George Daniels with OMEGA placed the co-axial escapent. And of course to say a farewell to such an amazing watchmaker!!!!!!
Thanks for all the info.I bought today (De Ville prestige 4875.31.01) i can't find the words to tell you how i feel!!!!
The watches that DID have problems had them surface within the first year in almost all cases (mostly within a short period of time). You've got a solid warranty on that piece, and in the event that anything happens, Omega will honour that and solve it for you, once they are fixed, they're fixed. The number that pop up with problems are very small, you'd be looking at 0.1% or less. The internet magnifies it because there are countless Cal 2500s beating away happily all over the world, but its not something to worry about. The watch actually comes in A, B, C and D. AFAIK, C and D are 25,200 VPH while the A and B are 28,800 VPH.
With nothing to worry i can go to bed and sleep like a baby!!!!I have now a seamaster planet ocean and the De ville of course. My next goal is the speedmaster broad arrow gmt white dial and brown leather strap. What's your opinion?

Have an Omega Constellation Double Eagle Case, No: 368.1214, 38 mm, that originally was fitted with the Omega Calibre 2500. Can anyone tell me the dial diameter for the 2500 movement for the 38 mm case?
I've got 2500 based De Ville Prestige Power Reserve - works good, pretty accurate, the rotor sometimes gets noisy, but I can live with that.
