I resentley bought this omega seamaster and I wonder if I am right in my research. I have just received it so I have not yet had the opertunety to open the back. My research here tells me it is a seamaster after 1958 because of the hippocampus back and I belive it is a ref 14767 because of the chronometer sub dial and general case shap. It has Arab number 12, 3, and 9 so it looks simular to the 1948 seamaster dial. The glass also have a tiny omega stamp. It has been in a draw for 10 years, but runs quite well. 1 minute of in a day. It had belonged to the grandfather of the seller. The dial is beautiful with very little patina. I don't think it is a redial? However, I haven't seen any seamaster that looks like this with a railroad subdial. It has a small crack in the glass. Should I change the glass or leave it be? I believe all part are orignial to the watch. Any one have thoughts on this? I would be grateful and I am qurious about the story and quality of the caliber. MM
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Bad relume Bad redial Wrong hands Case is in okay shape =Return it if you can Good luck the next time
Thanks for all your imputs Not what I wanted to hear . I am not sure I am right to think it is a 491 ref 14767. Will have to open it tomorrow. Maybe a 591 instead?
Yes I see what you mean about the lums being of set in relation to dial on left side. Is this why you consider it a bad redial?. seems almost like they have fallen out of their place. Is the dial not original to Omega? Thanks again.
It was indeed a cal. 491 ref 14767 -61. Local watchmaker confirmed what you said about redail and relum on some of the lums. Serial nr 167xxxxx.
