Cal 564 questions

Gents,

I've had a few cal. 564 and I got another one recently. I noticed that the colouring of the movement parts doesn't match as you can see in the picture below. Any thoughts why this might be?

Another question: the pull-push date function stopped working in anothe C-case I have, but the movement has been serviced recently. I understand it's because of a little piece that does this date-changing thing. Honestly, it doesn't bother me much because it's a watch I wear on a regular basis and I don't really have to change the date often. Would you bother having it serviced again just to have this part replaced? (mind you, it's not easy to come across this part in Brazil and the service could take 6+ months).

The issue is that this is not a cal 564, at least not all of it is. Notice the wheel bridge is stamped 565, not 564. Also the automatic winder bridge is not from a 564. You either have a 564 with a bunch of 565 parts on it, or you have a 565 with the wheel bridge from a different 565.

As for the date issue, I would have it fixed.

Which brings me to my next question: would you have the wheel bridge replaced for a 565 bridge? Too complex? Leave as is?

I think you mean switch for a 564 bridge? It's not a complex operation for someone who knows how to do it. There would still be the issue of the autowinding bridge which is not from a 564. I think the movement is likely mostly if not all 565.

Thanks for the reply. Note to self: never buy a watch without looking at the movement first.

Does cal 565 gave the pull-push date setting as well? If not, this movement could actually be a 564, otherwise I'm just stuck with a bad franken

563, 564, and 565 all have the quick set date via pull-push. If this one doesn't work, you need to get it looked at. If the date corrector is broken from setting the date while the date mechanism was in the process of changing, then there could be a broken part of the corrector floating around inside.

Cheers, Al
