I appreciate all advice in advance. I am very new to the watch world, but I have a question about the 552 cal. I realize that it would be a sacrilege but, I own a very beat up but in great time keeping condition 552 seamaster. Case number is 165.001. What would get in my way of putting the movement and dial I own in a Semaster 300 case 165.024? I know I would need a different crown, but is there anything else that is internally different? Would a different retaining bracket/pin be needed? Sorry for my naivete.

Are you taking a Seamaster dial from your case into the 300 case?

Dial probably won't be wide enough which could case the movement to shift. Even if tightened down. Dial is a part of the fitting to hold the movement in place.

Get the proper dial and everything should fit right. Besides the crown. You will also need a new winding stem
