Capture.jpg I have been researching into Vintage Constellations before pulling the trigger on one...a lot to learn indeed...

Stumbled upon one with a 551 movement. Been told to watch out for frankens. Does this warrant any alarm bells? My logic was parts of the movement seem to have a different finishing compared to others...

Any input would be much appreciated :)

Show us the dial, it is much more important.

Looks like an incorrect length in a movement screw has dented the dial. That would really irk me. Rotor bridge and rotor look like a replacement but the bridge has its signature stamping. Lugs seem to show their chamfers but I would like to see a side-on of the case

    Cheers

    Thanks Desmond!

I would have never thought about the screw causing a dent in the dial. Here's all I could get in terms of side profile. side.JPG

That dent is a real party stopper. A pretty big flaw on an otherwise quite nice watch!
