What do you all make of this?

It looks as if it is a US GF case:

I have trouble imagining this to be anything but a franken, but if so, where did the various parts come from?

Someone thought better of it - they just dropped $1400 for this. What do you imagine the sum of it's parts are worth?

The polished, gold-filled case? The common movement?
Unless someone knows just where the dial belongs, the parts are worth very little. That's just me guessing that the dial shouldn't be there. Whether it is refinished or not... Well?

Totally agree the case is worthless (and ugly to bat!). Are the hands worth anything? I'd be interested, like you, in knowing if anyone can place any of these rather obscure combinations of parts. Again, I just imagine someone who spent $1400 must have had a very good reason to purchase this. There were 3 bidders willing to spend more than 1k on this piece.

It's a rather rare jumbo Seamaster with cal 501. Few of these have ever been seen and usually with a unique dial of each example. This dial is original since it won't fit any other common cases. Hands are also original and won't be good for the 2913, since they are solid gold or gold plated.

That's interesting, do you know the reference of it? I was assuming the hands were steel, it's hard to see the gold colour in the picture, if all original it's quite a cool looking dress/diver 😵‍💫 😁

I don't have the ref for this particular one. I've just seen this similar 38mm case once before in even worse condition with no inside caseback pic either.

I'm surprised that similar has watches been sighted before. Thanks @TNTwatch 👍

Any others? @hoipolloi?
