    Hi Guys
I'm thinking of buying a 1970s Speedmaster, this one came up on Australian Ebay. I've spent time looking at the details in Moonwatch Only and it all seems to stack up. I would really appreciate any comments from you guys who know these watches. Is it ok, price? etc etc
    Thanks in anticipation
    Geoff

It seems like an 'honest' watch, but frankly a better one sold for less on OF this past week -- after sitting for a little while. There is some lume loss on markers, and the hands really seem beat up. And the nicks in the case on both sides of the gasket groove warrant better photos in order to be sure the case can seal properly. For me, i would pass at the asking price, but could be a buyer for a little bit less.

It's expensive by a bunch. But I like the case on this one a lot better. :whistling:

Too expensive for the reference that it is and the issues it shows in the photos IMO, which being so new here means possibly nada. But, I have been searching for a Speedy for months now so I feel like I have a good feel for current pricing for certain references.

I would pass on it because of the poor condition of the bezel, hand and missing lume on the marker.

Minute hand is trashed, and good luck matching a new set to the dial. Bezel is good and bad.

If the serial is 38m it’s a service dial.

He’s high by about $600 with the bracelet assuming it’s not a 1171/1 with no stretch.

Thanks for the info, I'll pass on this one.
I'm also looking at an SM300 but I'll start another thread for that one
